There are those who are “born with it” and then there is Bill Tracy.
Bill came by his talents the old fashion way, he earned them. While still just a boy of thirteen, his stepfather showed him some chords on the guitar, the rest is as they say is “history”.
Not long after the influence of his stepdad kicked in so did his love for Rock n’ Roll music. Bill spent a great deal of his youth studying his musical heroes; Paul, George, Ringo and John as well as Buffalo Springfield and many other contemporary acts of the time. One thing that kept coming back time after time was his love of roots Blues music.
He loves and always loved the songs of Jimmy Rogers, Muddy Waters, Freddy and BB King. This music formed Rock and R & B as well as having a major influence in Country and Jazz music. So after spending time with Rock and Country music he came back to his roots, Blues.
“Blues music touches your soul” Bill explains, “you can express any emotion with your instrument whether you are sad, joyful, happy or depressed; you can say it by just bending a note”. And bending notes are just one aspect of his blues.
Writing became as important to Bill as did his singing and playing. Sometimes prolific in his writing Bill has spent countless hours writing his tunes. “I wish that I could sing all the songs I have written, but unfortunately some of them are in different stylings for me to sing”. That’s the reason some of Bill’s songs have been recorded by many other artists over the years.
The Heart of a Woman CD, has taken on a life of its own. This "come from the heart" album reaches many different areas of Blues, but make no mistake, its Blues. Bill weaves traditional Blues in with Funk and even Zydeco. He also manages to put a little political spin on a couple tunes as well. Mix these with songs from the heart and you have It; a Blues album that can touch you on many different levels.
